Julie Usherwood was raised in Anderson and is a product of Anderson Five schools. Originally from Media, Pennsylvania, Julie and her family moved to Anderson County when she was in the Fourth Grade. Julie is a 1985 T.L. Hanna High School alumni.  Julie holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from College of Charleston. She currently serves as the Community Relations Director for the Anderson Area YMCA.

Julie is active in her community and has served on various boards and committees including: Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Anderson Alumni Association (Past Chair), Junior League of Anderson (Past Recruitment Chair), and is the Vice-President for the Anderson Five Educational Foundation Board. Ms. Usherwood’s ties to the school district transcend many years; her father, Jeff Radnor was Principal at West Franklin Elementary, Whitehall Elementary, and Homeland Park Elementary in Anderson Five. Her mother, Alice Radnor, was a classroom teacher for grades 3 and 5 at Concord Elementary, and served as Assistant Reading Recovery Coordinator in Anderson Five.

Julie and her husband, Robert, are members at First Presbyterian Church. Their daughter, Katie, is an Anderson Five graduate. 
 
Statement from Ms. Usherwood:
I am honored to be serving on the Anderson School District Five Board of Trustees. I believe that as a board it is our goal to provide the best quality education for all students in the district and to ensure that students feel safe and cared for while attending school. We are here to serve the students of Anderson School District Five.
